How Many Sprays of Perfume Should You Use?

By AORA Fragrance Atelier • 5 min read • September 19, 2026

There is no magic number of perfume sprays that works for every fragrance and every situation. The right amount depends on the scent, concentration, weather, environment and your personal preference.

Start lower with richer scentsDense sweet, amber and oud fragrances can become powerful quickly. If you are wearing ARABIAN GOLD, SHADOW OUD, PASSION OUD or SILK OUD, start conservatively and add only if needed.

Fresh scents can behave differentlyFresh profiles such as INFINITY or ILLUSION may feel more open and airy. You may prefer a different application pattern, but more is not automatically better.

Think about where you are goingA restaurant, classroom, office, medical setting or packed car calls for more restraint than an outdoor event. Fragrance should add to your presence without taking over somebody else’s space.

Weather mattersHeat can amplify projection, so reduce your application on very warm days. Cooler conditions can make some fragrances feel quieter.

A simple methodStart with a small number of sprays on selected areas such as the neck and wrists. Wear the fragrance for several hours. Ask someone you trust whether they can still detect it before deciding you need more next time.

With AORA’s 30% Extrait de Parfum concentration, thoughtful application is more useful than chasing a huge spray count.
