Where Should You Spray Perfume for the Best Performance?

By AORA Fragrance Atelier • 5 min read • September 11, 2026

Where you spray fragrance can change how it projects and how you experience it throughout the day.

NeckThe sides of the neck are popular because body warmth helps fragrance diffuse. Avoid overspraying directly under your nose; giving the scent some distance can also reduce how quickly you become accustomed to it.

WristsWrists are convenient and allow you to smell the fragrance as it develops. After spraying, let the perfume dry rather than rubbing your wrists vigorously together.

ChestA small amount on the upper chest can create a softer scent cloud that rises naturally during the day.

ClothingFabric can hold fragrance for a long time, but perfume may stain or affect some materials. Always test first and be especially careful with silk, white clothing and delicate fabrics.

Hair? Alcohol-based perfume can be drying when repeatedly sprayed directly onto hair. If you want scent around your hair, a light mist from a distance onto clothing around the shoulders is a simpler option.

How many places should you spray? There is no universal number. A powerful oud or sweet amber may need less than a fresh aromatic fragrance. Start conservatively, especially in classrooms, workplaces, restaurants and other close environments.

For a fresh AORA scent such as INFINITY or ILLUSION, you may prefer a slightly more open application. With richer profiles such as ARABIAN GOLD, SHADOW OUD or PASSION OUD, begin with fewer sprays and adjust.
